14 November 2013

Statement by Dr Gilbert Lawrence, HOD for Western Cape Department of Community Safety

The Department of Community Safety was informed that a recruitment company is fraudulently using the Western Cape Government’s name to recruit aspiring Traffic Officers.

The company lures prospective candidates by inviting candidates to submit their CV's along with a payment of R150.

The public is warned to be alert as the department will use its own website or place the recruitment advert in the relevant media, to invite prospective applicants to apply. This process will take place at No Charge.

The Department has subsequently reported this fraudulent activities to the South African Police Service (SAPS). We have a zero tolerance for fraud, and will encourage members of the public to report suspected fraudulent activities to our Hotline on: 0800 701 701.
