Browns Farm Residents to Receive Houses from Minister Madikizela

8 October 2013

Ten beneficiaries, including 67-year-old Mrs Thembeka Mapasa, will receive the keys to their new houses from Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela in Browns Farm, Philippi, Cape Town today.

The houses are part of the Luxolo People's Housing Process (PHP) project, which will deliver 110 houses when complete. Currently 81 of the houses have been completed, and R6 million of the R8.1 million budget spent.

PHP projects usually originate when a community already has land and approaches the department for assistance in building houses for people earning below R3 500 per month. The Western Cape is a leader in the PHP programme, which is intended to involve the communities in the housing projects.
