In partnership with the City of Cape Town, the Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) commemorated International Translation Day on 29 September 2023. The purpose of the event was to bring various government entities together, including municipalities, as they deal with matters regarding translation on a daily basis.
The day traces its origins back to St. Jerome, the Bible translator, and has celebrated since 1953. Every year on 30 September, the world observes International Translation Day in honour of Saint Jerome, also known as the “Father of Translation”.
The Municipal Communications Unit delivered a message of support which was well received. The Department continues to forge developmental work relations with relevant entities, including PanSALB.
