Invitation to Nominate Members to the Independent Complaints Advisory Committee for Health

In an effort to address complaints about health services effectively and efficiently, the Western Cape Government Health has established the Independent Complaints Advisory Committee where the Minister and Head of Department can refer complaints when existing structures have not resolved such complaints to the satisfaction of the complainant.

The Western Cape Minister of Health, Theuns Botha, calls on members of the community, and specifically health experts, to nominate individuals from the Western Cape to serve as members of the Independent Complaints Advisory Committee. The minister shall appoint at least four committee members, who will represent the following areas of expertise:

  • Healthcare.
  • Legal, including medico-legal.
  • Human rights.
  • Public service.

Nominated individuals may not be in the employ of Western Cape Government.

Individuals or organisations nominating members must note the following:

  • The appointed members will enter into a contract with Western Cape Government Health.
  • The position is voluntary and members will be paid at a predetermined tariff for attendance.
  • Committee members will serve for a period of 12 months or such other period to be determined by the Minister of Health.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, 30 March 2012.
