EMS Alert: EMS Responds to a Search and Rescue in George

29 June 2012

At 20:02 the Western Cape Government Health's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a search and rescue in the George area.

Siblings aged 24 (male) and 20 (female) went for a hike in the bushes near Nelson Mandela University in George. The parents of the siblings made the call as the cellphone battery of the pair died when they attempted to call their parents to alert them that they are lost.

EMS, together with South African Police Services and Fire Rescue, launched a search for the pair but due to bad light the search was called off and resumed at first light this morning. Skymed 2 was dispatched and the siblings were found in a ravine near the Nelson Mandela University in George. Both siblings are fine and suffered no injuries.
