Minister Madikizela to officially open Franschhoek Pass

Tomorrow, Wednesday 11 September 2019, Western Cape Minister of Transport and Public Works, Bonginkosi Madikizela will officially open the Franschhoek Pass in the Stellenbosch municipal area.

The Pass had to be closed for safety reasons after a rock-fall on 22 June and another one on 2 July 2019. The Department of Transport and Public Works officially closed the road. A geotechnical investigation commenced immediately afterwards to determine the extent and nature of the damage.

The investigation was concluded on 6 September 2019.

Minister Madikizela will unpack the findings of the report tomorrow and all media are welcome to attend.

Minister Madikizela will be joined by Western Cape Agriculture Minister, Dr Ivan Meyer and Stellenbosch Executive Mayor, Adv Gesie Van Deventer during the official opening of the road.
