Western Cape Provincial Treasury presents the Revenue Management Master Class
Western Cape Provincial Treasury presents the Revenue Management Master Class 2017
The Western Cape Provincial Treasury will be hosting its third annual Revenue Management Master Class (RMMC) themed EFFECTIVE INTEGRATED REVENUE MANAGEMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES on 15 and 16 November 2017.
Facilitated by the Stellenbosch University’s School of Public Leadership RMMC aims to empower municipalities with practical and operational information on how to best manage local government revenues and ensure data integrity, to improve and strengthen the financial capabilities of municipalities and to assist municipalities to develop multi-year action plans to strengthen the relationship between strategic long term planning, budgeting and financial viability.
Other key role players will include the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Finance, Dr Ivan Meyer, representatives from National Treasury, the South African Local Government Association, the City of Cape Town and selected municipalities within the Western Cape.
Past RMMC engagements delivered robust discussions, debated approaches and emphasised best practices to assist municipalities in remaining financially viable. Delegates gained insightful, informative and real experiences and regarded the RMMC as a great platform to collaborate and network with municipal leaders.
Over the past decade, many municipalities have become less sustainable as they confront escalating uncollectible consumer debt, service delivery backlogs and of late the crippling drought which led to Western Cape Premier Helen Zille officially declaring the province a disaster area in response to the most severe drought to hit the province in over a century. The stringent water restrictions introduced by a number of municipalities will no doubt impact in municipal revenue.
The event is fully sponsored by the Western Cape Provincial Treasury.
