Premier Winde and Minister Simmers to hand over title deeds in Velddrif
Following the State of the Province Address (SOPA), which will take place in Velddrif on Tuesday 15 February 2022, the Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, and the Provincial Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers, will hand over 10 title deeds to residents who are part of the Noordhoek Housing Project.
To date, 33 title deeds have already been handed over to these residents. Before its conclusion in 2020 the Noordhoek project, where 107 houses were built and handed over was plagued by a variety of issues, including violent protests.
Premier Winde: “I am really pleased to hear that this project is back on-track and I am looking forward to attending the handover, which will make a significant difference in the lives of its beneficiaries. In just 3 days, I will be delivering my SOPA where I will be making further announcements on my plans to ensure the dignity and well-being of our residents, while focussing on tackling the second pandemic of unemployment.”
Minister Simmers said: “It’s exciting to return to this community and be presented with yet another opportunity to ensure more of our residents become property owners. We’ve not only ensured that they’re able to live in a dignified manner, but now we’re also empowering our beneficiaries with this life changing document. I am particularly looking forward to visiting 84-year-old Ms Eva Daniels at her home where we will hand over her title deed.”
