105 Khayelitsha residents to receive title deeds

Tomorrow, 5 August 2021, Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers will facilitate the handing over of 105 title deeds to deserving recipients in Khayelitsha.

In adherence to all COVID-19 regulations, Minister Simmers, who will be joined by a small delegation will visit a few of the elderly recipients at their homes where he will personally hand over their title deeds. The balance will be handed over by departmental officials.

Minister Simmers said: “This is yet another significant occasion that I’m looking forward to. We’re presented with an opportunity to change our people’s lives forever, as they will now be the legitimate owner of their property. I’m excited to be part of this empowering moment. As the Western Cape Government, we remain committed to improving the lives of our residents.”

There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.

Members of the media are advised of the meeting point below, which is the first house. From there we’ll proceed to the rest of the homes of the beneficiaries, to individually handover their title deeds.
