Madikizela To Brief Media on The Department’s Position On Illegal Land Invasions

11 June 2018

Tomorrow, Thursday 14 June 2018, Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela will brief the media on the Department of Human Settlement’s position on the ongoing illegal land invasions across the Province.

The Province has been hard hit by illegal land grabs in the last four months. The violence, destruction and looting associated with these protests is condemned in the strongest terms, and will also cost this province millions.

While we respect and uphold the right of individuals and communities to protest, and acknowledge the plight of those in need of adequate housing, invading land is not going to assist us in resolving genuine issues. It will, in fact, hamper and prolong our ability to deliver and assist the most vulnerable citizens of this Province.

Minister Madikizela will use this opportunity to outline the Department’s housing plans and the approach in dealing with this challenge.

All media are most welcome to attend the briefing.
