Grabouw’s informal Settlement And Backyard Dwellers To Get Homes

On Monday, 11 December 2017, Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela, along with the Deputy Mayor of Theewaterskloof Municipality, Isaac Sileku, will hand over 29 homes of the Rooidakke Housing Project in Grabouw.

Among the 29 recipients to receive homes are 14 elderly residents, ranging between 60 and 82 years old. The Rooidakke Housing Project was specifically aimed at assisting residents of Grabouw who live in informal settlements, farms and backyard dwellers.

This project forms part of the Department’s Peoples Housing Process (PHP) programme and will comprise a total of 1169 units upon completion. In PHP programmes, the community plays an active role in the decisions and development of the project.
