Blind 68 Year Old Pensioner to Receive House From Madikizela

Blind 68 year old Mr George Saliti will tomorrow receive his new home from Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madkizela in the Thembelihle Housing Project in Pelican Park, Cape Town.

Mr Saliti has been residing in Makhaza, Khayelitsha, and is representative of the Department’s focus on prioritising the elderly and those with special needs in housing allocations.

The Thembelihle project yielded 219 housing opportunities at a total cost of R49 million. The project reflects the Department’s vision of social integration, in which beneficiaries drawn from different interest groups and areas are provided housing opportunities together. The project beneficiaries include the elderly, special needs families and domestic workers that were relocated from various informal settlements.

The Thembelihle Housing Project has been developed under the Integrated Residential Development Project (IRDP) Programme of the Department.
