Minister Madikizela Hands Over Houses in Abbotsdale

7 April 2014

On Friday 4 April 2014, Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, handed over 11 houses to beneficiaries of Abbotsdale Housing Project outside Malmesbury. According to Minister Madikizela, the Department has made sure that the houses which were handed over, were of quality and safe to live in. He said that Western Cape government will continue to make sure that it delivers houses where they are mostly need.

To date, the Municipality of Swartland has delivered over 400 serviced sites. This is in line with the Department’s incremental housing approach strategy, which aims to deliver more serviced sites first, and then houses later.

This project has a budget of approximately over R40 million and will deliver over 500 hundred houses when complete. This development is located 10 km south of the town of Malmesbury. The land is adjacent and east of the N7 and west of the existing township of Abbotsdale and its location is illustrated on the locality plan.
