Delft Beneficiaries Receive Title Deeds After Long Wait

On 10 March 2014, the Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela handed over 151 title deeds to beneficiaries in Delft main civic hall.

Among the title deeds recipients was Mr Joseph Abraham, 80 years old. The title deeds transfer is part of the Human Settlements Department strategy to instil a sense of ownership and responsibility amongst housing beneficiaries.  Out of 151 title deeds handed over, of which consist of 41 for pensioners and 110 for non-pensioners.

The Department have over the years spent an amount of over R16 Million on the application of the EEDBS (Enhanced Extended Discount Benefit Scheme) in trying to transfer tittle deeds to beneficiaries.

Minister Madikizela made it clear that old citizens must be give first preference and be looked after.  Minister Madikizela closed his address by pleading with beneficiaries to please hold on to their title deeds, because it is an investment.
