Minister Madikizela Committed in Fighting the Housing Backlog in Western Cape

Five deserving beneficiaries received their keys to their new homes from the Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela and Mayor of Saldanha Mr Francois Schippers, at George Kerridge in Vredenburg on Monday 17 February 2014. Included in the beneficiaries was the 62-year-old Mr. Bonisile Gadilanga and Hobile Nana 66 year old.

The number of sites granted for this development is 978 sites. Only 882 sites will be completed presently. The remaining 96 sites will be completed at a later stage this year. The 882 service sites are anticipated to be completed by end of February 2014. Relocation of beneficiaries to the completed serviced sites will commence from the 1st week of March 2014.  Phase 1 is equal to 630 serviced sites and Phase 2 equals to 194 serviced sites.

Currently 464 houses are at roof height with 291 units at practical completion and 84 units at 100% completion. The completion of all 464 units is to be complete before the end March 2014.
