Masincedane Beneficiaries to Receive Houses in Cape Town

17 October 2013

Four deserving beneficiaries will receive the keys to their new homes from the Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, at the Masincedane People's Housing Project (PHP) in Strand, Cape Town on Friday 18 October. Included in the beneficiaries will be 52-year-old Mr T Ngxamile.

The PHP programme is a strategic focus of the Western Cape Government, as communities become empowered through the housing process by taking part in the project management, rather than being a passive recipient of a housing opportunity.

The project will consist of 468 houses when complete, at a cost of R26.7 million, and is one of several projects in the area. Also included are the 137-unit Syazama project, the 82-unit New Siyazama project, and the 304 units of the Vuyolwethu 1 and 2  projects.

To qualify, beneficiaries need to be South African citizens, not have previously benefitted from a state subsidy, and also earn less than R3 500 per month.
