Media Alert: Minister Madikizela Explains Allocation of Housing List

Western Cape Human Settlements Minister will deliver a statement  today, 6 August 2013, explaining the allocation of housing opportunities in the Western Cape and will be supported by a live demonstration of a municipal housing list.

The allocation of housing opportunities is frequently misunderstood or challenged in Western Cape Government-funded housing projects and it is important to ensure that the people who most deserve houses are the ones that receive them.

The Western Cape Government is a national leader in supporting municipalities in establishing a corruption-proof, reliable housing list. The integrity of the list is critical for the fair allocation of housing opportunities, as the demand for houses is greater than the available supply.

In addition, the Western Cape Government has developed a set of beneficiary selection guidelines, which are aimed at supporting municipalities in the often complex task of allocating housing opportunities.

There will be opportunities for questions and answers with Minister Madikizela.
