Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, will today host a media briefing where results from a recent survey on alcohol and drug abuse among young people will be presented.
The Western Cape Government in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) tasked the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Research Unit at the South African Medical Research Council (MRC) with conducting a survey in order to determine the regional prevalence of drug and alcohol use, risk behaviours and mental health problems among school learners in Grades 8-10.
The team will present the findings and discuss the way forward in reducing drug and alcohol related harms in the Western Cape.
