As it increasingly appears unlikely that Eskom will fix its constrained electricity system shortly, the Western Cape Department of Social Development (DSD) has had to implement contingency measures to ensure that social development services remain available during the various stages of load shedding.
“We wish to alert all residents that our services will remain operational during scheduled load shedding. However, we ask our clients to be patient with us if they experience delays in accessing services during these times,” said the Western Cape Minister for Social Development, Sharna Fernandez.
The Department is implementing the following contingency plans to ensure that service delivery continues during times of scheduled load shedding:
As a Department committed to working FOR YOU, load shedding will not deter us from striving to deliver a comprehensive network of social development services both effectively and efficiently to the poor, the vulnerable and those with special needs.
The public can access our services by visiting any local DSD office or contacting the DSD hotline on 0800 220 250 for information to access help.
