Min. Albert Fritz and Min. Nomafrench Mbombo to launch Substance Abuse Awarenes

Today 22 June 2015, Western Cape Social Development Minister, Mr Albert Fritz and Health Minister, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo will be visiting the Cape Town Drug Counselling Centre in Mitchells Plain to mark Substance Abuse Awareness Week which begins tomorrow. The two ministers will be taken around the facility and orientated on the work that they do.

In addition the Ministers will speak to members of the community, clients of the facility and the parents who form their support structure. This will also be a follow-up visit for Minister Fritz who opened the facility in March this year.

The Western Cape Government has identified substance abuse as one of the key areas of concern which will be tackled under Provincial Strategic Goal 3. The Ministers will speak to what each department that forms part of this PSG is doing to help fight the scourge of alcohol and drug abuse which has crippled many young people across the province.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
