Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, in January launched the province’s first Youth Café in Rocklands Mitchell’s Plain, followed by another one at Vangate Mall in July this year.
Since then the cafés have been inundated with young people from across the city, registering to access the courses, discussions and other interactive sessions, which have resulted in more than 350 internships/work opportunities for youth.
On Friday 1 August 2014, more than 200 certificates were issued to young people for having attended and completed courses and workshops on Project Management, HIV/AIDS counselling, Mobile App Development, Graphic Design, Hairdressing and Beauty.
