A Better Together Team Western Cape on Day 2 at League Finals

13 December 2012

Effective partnerships between coaches, players and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport ensured that Team Western Cape performed well at the National Schools Sport Championship in Pretoria on Wednesday, 12 December 2012.

The best results came from the basketball, gymnastics and rugby teams which won most of their matches against tough opposition. The Montevideo basketball teams are currently unbeaten and will be hoping to carry this form into the knock-out rounds over the next few days.

The coach of the u13 boys’ and girls’ teams, Mr Craig Daniels hopes his teams will reach the semi-finals and then, hopefully, progress to the finals. “The players have been preparing well during the year and their hopes are high. The challenge for them is to maintain their current levels of performance as the knock-out round draws closer”, he said.

The Department is proud of the teams which will compete for top honours over the next few days. Mr Roderick Siljeur of the Directorate: Sport Development said that when partners work together and share the same vision, it enables everyone to shine.
