West Coast Public Servants Show Their Pace on Athletics Track

15 October 2012

The 100 metres and 100 metres x4 relay races in the various age categories were the final sets of events at the regional Better Together Games held at the Saldanha Naval Base on Friday, 12 October 2012.

Having participated in various sport and recreational activities on the sports field, the attention shifted to the athletics track. Hundreds of public servants who participated in various other sports and games during the day had their teams backing them all the way. There was a strong sense of healthy competition and of people having fun together. Mr Henry Paulse of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport said that the event had been a social and fun-filled experience, and it also served to promote a healthy lifestyle among public servants.

Eswillene Loubser of the department, who won the 100 metre race in the women u35 division, said that although she was completely out of breath, she had enjoyed the race. Through mass participation in sport and recreational games during this Better Together Games event, the Western Cape Government succeeded in bringing public servants together in pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.
