Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport Anroux Marais has congratulated Hamiltons Rugby Club and the University of Cape Town Rugby Club on bringing two global trophies back to the Western Cape last week and making the province proud.
"Hamiltons Rugby Club is based in Green Point and is the oldest rugby club in South Africa. They are also now the Amateur Rugby World Cup champions, after winning the competition held in France," Marais said.
She added that UCT, not to be outdone, added the University Invitation World Cup Trophy, which was also contested in France, to make the Western Cape even prouder.
"UCT and Hamiltons have shown the way - South African teams can beat the world in France. We sincerely hope the Springboks can continue their current great form and lift the Rugby World Cup in France," Marais concluded.
