Minister Marais invites federations to apply for sport funding
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) annually empowers sport federations in the Western Cape to support talent identification and development across the province.
Minister Anroux Marais invites all affiliated sport federations, associations and qualifying organisations to submit applications in respect of aid for administration, development, capacity building, transformation, major events and travel to international events for the 2022/23 financial year.
Minister Marais said, “As we are currently faced with a global pandemic and already experienced a world without sport, a whole of society approach is an urgent necessity and our financial support to federations personifies this commitment. In so doing, the Western Cape Government and valued partners reaffirm our collaborative mandate to use sport and recreation as a means of social and personal development amongst all affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, its subsequent national lockdown regulations and the societal challenges that often place us at high-risk.
With this financial support, it is hoped that our federations and by extension, our sporting clubs at grassroots level will strengthen their resolve to rise above the faced adversities to uplift the very communities they call home. This way, we are deemed a people with potential rather than a nation at risk. These funds will indeed go a long way to bring into fruition innovative solutions in response to unprecedented circumstances in the sporting sector”.
To apply for funding applicants need to comply with all the relevant documentation and can complete the online application form by clicking here.
The closing date for 2022/2023 applications is 30 September 2021. Should you need further information do not hesitate to send an email to email@example.com.
