Roadshow Teaches Olympic Values In Wellington

20 August 2018

On 15 August 2018, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) visited Soetendal Primary School in Wellington as part of the Olympic roadshows.

The aim of the roadshows is to combat social ills through sport and education across the province. It also aligns to the International Olympics Committee (IOC’s) global youth strategy to maintain people’s interest in sport, encouraging them to practise sport and promoting the Olympic values.

Approximately 35 learners from the school got the opportunity to participate in sports such as cricket, athletics and football. The learners received branded lunchboxes to instill the experience in a tangible way.

DCAS will teach Olympic values to various communities by continuing with the roadshows throughout the province.

Let us continue to encourage our youth to take part in sport to build a healthier and stronger Western Cape, BETTER TOGETHER.
