Launch Of Mini Library Grants Big Opportunities For Slanghoek Community

9 December 2015

The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) in collaboration with Breede Valley Municipality launched a mini library at the Slanghoek Primary School in Slanghoek Valley, Worcester, on Monday 7 December 2015.

The funding for the new library was provided by the DCAS Library Services Directorate. The fully equipped library boasts with some of the latest books, magazines and even has computers with internet access available to library users. Learners, as well as members of the local community will benefit greatly from the new library.

The Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, said: “The library is a safe environment for the children of the community to learn and complete their tasks and it is a great information centre for members of the community to make use of, whether it is the books or the computers that provide library users with free access to the internet.”

The Mayor of Breede Valley Municipality, Antoinette Steyn, said: “We are thankful to DCAS and Minister Marais for bringing this library to our community. This mini library is a product of the shared vision as captured in Breede Valley Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP).”

Learners and community members are urged to visit the library. Let us enhance learning conditions in Slanghoek Valley and provide stimulation and entertainment to the community, BETTER TOGETHER.
