Great Ideas Shared When Different Cultures Get Together

25 March 2015

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) hosted an interaction with its registered cultural councils from various communities in the Western Cape. The two day social cohesion workshop took place on 16 and 17 March 2015 at the Melkbos Oppiesee Cultural Facility.

The intention was to interact with the Western Cape registered cultural councils and communicate the governance and compliance concerns, so that DCAS can improve on the expectations of community members.  The prestigious group of guests enlightened the workshop with historical knowledge and debated serious governmental issues.

Chiefness Mary Jansen said: “the workshop was very fruitful, and we would like to have more conferences for women at the cultural facilities and DCAS Arts and Culture Lindsay Jeptha feels that great ideas are shared when different cultures are brought together.

DCAS offers opportunities to its registered councils to engage with the arts and culture component to ensure a long lasting working relationship and render optimal services to its ‘ambassadors’ in the communities of the Western Cape.
