Netball Teams to Compete at Spar Test Series

19 June 2014

Four netball teams from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) Club Development Programme, are set to perform on the national stage on Friday, 20 June 2014. This is a result of a partnership between Netball South Africa, Western Province Netball Union and DCAS.

Weltevrede (from Mitchells Plain), Young Sisters (Gugulethu), Vultures (Khayelitsha) and Hamlets (Mamre), will square off against each other in a curtain raiser, to the second test match between South Africa and Scotland at the Velodrome in Bellville.

The matches will start at 16:00. This will be a great opportunity for players to excel, grow and reach for their dreams. They might also go on to represent South Africa one day.

DCAS will also provide free transport for spectators from these communities to see our national side live on 20 and 21 June. This creates opportunities for our communities to experience the thrill of watching international netball in Cape Town.

Tickets for the Spar Test series are available at the Velodrome. They cost R20, and R10 for children under 13.
