Media Alert: Training for Western Cape Indigenous Games Technical Officials

Western Cape technical officials will be receiving valuable training when the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) hosts the Indigenous Games Technical Official Refresher Course in Tulbagh on 14 June 2014.

Participants from all six districts in the province are expected to attend. The course will be covering these following topics:

• Basic knowledge of the games and the nine indigenous games codes.
• Basic officiating.
• Scoring.

This skills development course will contribute to quality officiating at future indigenous games events in the Western Cape, according to Zandisile Bassie of DCAS. “We hope to see many more quality technical officials from the Western Cape, especially from rural areas, that we can be proud of”.
