Media Alert: Chess Tournament in Gugulethu

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) will partner with the City of Cape Town to host a chess tournament in Gugulethu on Saturday, 15 March 2014.

The tournament will see Cape Metropole development players between the ages of 6 and 18 years vie for top honours. There will be a total of seven rounds. The top three players and the Best Female Player will each receive a trophy and a medal.

DCAS is helping the chess players of tomorrow to reach their competitive potential through events such as this one. The tournament will also show that grassroots chess development is alive and well in the Western Cape.
