Have Fun, Grow Talent and Meet Friends at The MOD Spot This Holiday
Great good news for parents and children! Across the Western Cape, during the December school holidays, a variety of activities will be offered to keep young people busy and safe at our MOD (Mass participation, Opportunity and access, Development and growth) Centres.
The MOD Holiday Programme welcomes all children in the community to join in and have fun. Learners can look forward to a programme packed with exciting activities and events. Whether you’re into sport, dance, music, reading, singing or indigenous games, the MOD Programme is there for you. There is literally something for everyone! It’s about giving learners a summer that they will enjoy in a safe and vibrant space.
There are currently 43 286 learners that attend the 181 MOD Centres that are based at various schools across the Western Cape Province. In recent interviews and site visits, many of the principals at the participating schools noted that since the establishment of the MOD Centres at their schools, there has been an improvement in sport participation and achievements, as well as school attendance and learner behaviour.
Spearheaded by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) and in collaboration with various stakeholders, the holiday programme will be more than fun. The MOD Centre coaches are ready and equipped to develop the talents of our youth.
Parents are encouraged to take advantage of these fun-filled activities, which aim to entertain and open a new world of opportunities for children, throughout the holidays. Through its activities, the Western Cape Government is offering the young people of this province, positive lifestyle opportunities through recreation-based activities, during this busy festive season.
Let us build futures, better together.
