Bring Your Sporting “Gees” To the 2013 Better Together Games

3 September 2013

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) will be hosting four Better Together Games events in various parts of the Western Cape during October 2013. Old Mutual, Nedbank and Peninsula Beverages are partnering with the Games this year.

Thousands of employees from the provincial government, municipalities, Special Forces, Air Force, Police Service and Navy will again get an opportunity to showcase their sporting talents and sense of fair play through participating in a variety of sports activities. Join in the fun by taking part in at least one of the activities on offer and by enthusiastically supporting your colleagues.

Details of the four events are as follows:

  • South Western Districts (SWD) Better Together Games, De Jager Sports Complex, Oudtshoorn, 4 October 2013
  • West Coast Better Together Games, SAS Saldanha Naval Base, Saldanha, 11 October 2013
  • Boland Better Together Games, Boland Park, Worcester, 18 October 2013
  • Metropole Better Together Games, Jan Burger Sports Complex, Parow, Cape Town, 25 October 2013

The Games form an integral part of the Western Cape Government’s efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and to strengthen partnerships between public servants on the sports field and in the workplace.

Be a proud public servant who is committed to teamwork and a healthy lifestyle and enjoy a relaxing day away from your busy work schedule. Make new friends in the process. Bring your sporting gear, mascots, vuvuzelas, posters and competitive “gees”. Encourage your colleagues to join in. Motivate the champions in your department. Cheer them on to win. The Games will be filled with laughter and excitement. The best participants stand a chance to represent their teams in next year’s Cape Town Corporate Games.

The four Better Together Games events in October show the Western Cape Government’s support for sport and recreational games across the province. This encourages colleagues to adopt a healthy lifestyle together, while showcasing the talents of our proud champions.
