MEDIA ALERT: Weekend Safety Diary – Minister Plato takes youth outreach to Hangberg, meets religious leaders in Marikana and joins AfriForum for a press briefing on farm murders

This weekend, Friday 27 October 2017 – Sunday 29 June 2016, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, will conduct various safety related outreaches in Hangberg and Marikana.

Today, Friday 27 October 2017, Minister Plato and officials from the Department of Community Safety will be engaging with the Youth of Hangberg as part of the Department’s ongoing youth focussed activities.

On Saturday, 28 October 2017, Minister Plato will host various religious leaders from the greater Marikana community for an informative breakfast on the different opportunities to partner with the Department to help improve safety in Philippi East.

The engagement will focus specifically on the Youth Safety and Religion Programme partnership. This programme enables religious institutions to partner with the Department by providing youth development programmes and activities during school holidays, and notably the upcoming festive season.

On Sunday, 29 October 2017, Minister Plato will host a delegation from AfriForum at his office for a joint press conference on farm murders.
