Media Alert: Launching the 'Own Your Future' Campaign for Grade 12 Learners

On Monday, Western Cape Education Minister Donald Grant will be launching the "Own YOUR future campaign" at Manyano High School in Khayelitsha.

The campaign, "Own YOUR future. Own YOUR success". Study hard to pass YOUR matric" is part of the Western Cape Education Department's (WCED's) strategy to improve the Grade 12 pass rate in the province in 2010 and encourages learners to put maximum effort into their studies in the remaining months of their school career up to their final National Senior Certificate Examinations.

At the launch, the Minister will be handing out a booklet called "Tips for success" which will help learners plan their study time, provides subject specific study guides and tips on study methods and effective examination techniques, information on how to obtain bursaries and the final NSC exam timetable.

These booklets will be handed out to every Grade 12 learner in the coming weeks, and is the first of its kind in the South African education system.
