Media Alert: Telkom and the Western Cape make Broadband available to 150 Schools

Tomorrow, the MD of Telkom SA, Pinky Moholi, will be handing over the "Telkom 150 schools project" to Western Cape Minister for Education Donald Grant.

In a joint partnership between the Department of Education, the Western Cape Education Department and the Telkom Foundation, learners from one hundred and fifty (150) schools across the Western Cape now have broadband access to the internet to bridge the digital divide.

Three classrooms in each of the one hundred and fifty (150) schools have an internet package consisting of interactive whiteboards with projectors and laptops for teachers. This will contribute to the improvement of quality teaching and learning through ICT.

Also in attendance will be the Deputy Minister of Education Enver Surty, the Deputy Minister of Communications Dina Pule and the CEO of Telkom Foundation Reabetsoe Motsepe.
