Review of Effects of Today's Industrial Action - 20 August 2010
Management arrangements by the Western Cape Education Department to monitor attendance of educators during today's industrial strike action indicate that eight percent (8%) (116) of our schools closed as a result of today's industrial strike action.
Eighteen percent (18%) of educators were absent from work.
There have been isolated incidences of intimidation around the province which have been dealt with by the police.
We are thankful that the vast majority of our schools in the Western Cape continued to function. We continue to advise parents and caregivers to send their children to school on Monday.
