Media Alert: Launch of the Western Cape Education Department's Textbook Retrieval Campaign

11 November 2010

Tomorrow, Western Cape Education Minister Donald Grant will be visiting Thandokhulu Secondary School in Mowbray to launch the Western Cape Education Department's (WCED's) textbook retrieval campaign.

The campaign encourages learners to hand in their textbooks at the end of the year.

Textbook retrieval is a problem in some of our Provinces schools and the Department is trying to avoid having to buy new textbooks at the end of the year because of poor retrieval.

Instead, we are aiming to use the money we save on retrieving textbooks to buy more reading books for our classrooms.

Grant will briefly address the Grade twelve's (12's) after their Physical Sciences examination and explain why it is important that they hand in their textbooks.

Where: Thandokhulu Secondary School, corner Main and Albert Roads, Mowbray.

Date: 14 November 2010
