Media alert: Minister Debbie Schäfer to witness NSC pledge signing & caution NSC

11 October 2017

Tomorrow, Thursday 12th October 2017, Minister Debbie Schäfer will be visiting Intshukumo Senior Secondary School in Gugulethu to caution candidates about cheating ahead of the 2017 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations and to witness the signing of a commitment agreement and pledge relating to the writing of the 2017 NSC examinations.

In the coming days, candidates across the Province will be signing a voluntary pledge that, amongst other things, shows their commitment to comply with all rules and regulations relevant to the NSC exams.

These regulations include following the instructions of the invigilators and not participating in any wrongdoing, for example, trying to bring unauthorised materials or electronic devices, including cell phones, into the exam centre.

Tomorrow, Minister Schäfer will witness the signing of the pledge by candidates from Intshukumo Senior Secondary.

The Minister will be cautioning the learners about cheating in the exams and will explain how cheating can result in serious consequences.
