Media Alert: Western Cape Education Begins the Textbook Procurement Process for 2014

Today, 23 May 2013 Minister Grant will be visiting a textbook exhibition at the Metro Central Education District offices.

The WCED has organized exhibitions in each education district to help assist educators to make informed decisions about the textbooks they wish to order for the 2014 school year.

The WCED would like to ensure that textbook orders for 2014 are made timeously so that we can stock our schools with the required textbooks well before the start of the 2014 school year.

In 2011, Minister Donald Grant made a commitment that all learners in this province will have in their hands a textbook in every core subject they are taking by the end of 2013/ 2014.

We are now beginning the roll-out of the next and final stage of our plan to include learners in Grades 7 to 9 and further textbooks for Grade12.

The textbook exhibitions are the beginning of this process. 

Minister Grant will be viewing the exhibition and will provide details on the WCED textbook procurement process for 2014.
