City of Cape Town to Officially Open the Mandalay Hall

1 August 2010

The City of Cape Town's Sport, Recreation and Amenities Department will officially open the Mandalay Community Hall in Mitchells Plain on Tuesday 03 August 2010.

The City's Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services, Councillor Brett Herron, will officiate.

Date: Tuesday 03 August

Time: 11:30

Venue: Mandalay Hall, c/o Coastal Street and Auber Avenue, Mandalay

Note: All media are welcome to attend.

The Mandalay Community Hall project was already completed in August 2008, but this event sees the facility's official opening.

Mandalay Hall provides a much-needed facility for the local community and hosts a range of activities including special programmes for senior citizens and the youth. Two workers and a play-leader are permanently based at the facility, and programmes range from aerobics classes to hip-hop dancing.

The facility's Come & Play programme offers a safe and healthy environment for children. After-school and holiday activities include table-tennis, ball games and indigenous games.
