16 December 2010

City of Cape Town Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato, will this morning publicly show his support for the Catholic Welfare and Development (CWD) organisation's annual 'Buckets of Love: Feed a Family this Christmas' campaign.

The campaign will see the distribution of grocery buckets to disadvantaged families across Cape Town this Christmas.

The buckets are filled with basic food items such as rice, sugar, mealie meal, samp and beans, soya, mixed vegetables, corned meat, meat balls, biscuits, tea, sweets, pilchards and peanut butter.

Mayor Plato will hand over a cheque to the organisation to fund one hundred (100) buckets and also assist in the distribution of the buckets to identified families.

"These buckets cost just one hundred and twenty rand (R120) each. It is amazing that just by sponsoring a bucket; we can provide families with nutritious food over the festive period. I urge all Capetonians to get behind this campaign and help spread love and joy this Christmas," said Mayor Plato.
