20 February 2017

Tomorrow, 21 February 2017, Premier Helen Zille will visit ACA Threads, a Cape Town-based sewing threads manufacturer and supplier, as part of the Western Cape Government’s month-long Energy Efficiency Awareness campaign.

The campaign’s message is: “Solar. The best way to save under the Sun.” It focuses on raising awareness about the benefits of installing solar water heaters and solar PV panels, as a cost saving measure, and in line with creating a greener world.

Premier Zille will be accompanied by Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde.

The Western Cape Government, in partnership with the City of Cape Town has prioritised Energy Security as one of seven Game Changers. The goal of the Energy Security Game Changer is to ensure long-term energy security through the availability of reliable, diverse and low carbon energy to support economic growth in the Western Cape.

The visit intends to highlight the benefits of implementing energy efficiency measures adopted by ACA, such as the installation of 131 kW in Rooftop Solar PV, which has resulted in a R500 000 a year savings for the company.

Premier Zille and Minister Winde will also be shown the many other energy efficiency measures that have been implemented by the manufacturer.

During her visit, Premier Zille will also congratulate ACA as one of the flagship companies that has shown commitment towards the Green Economy. A growing number of companies have taken up the call towards building an economy that connects the well-being of our environment with the growth of our economy. This process is driven by the Western Cape Government entity, 110% Green.
