Screening of Nelson Mandela's Funeral on the Grand Parade
The City of Cape Town will screen the late Nelson Mandela’s funeral live on the Grand Parade on Sunday 15 December 2013 in order to give members of the public a chance to gather together and honour Madiba.
The funeral will take place in Qunu in the Eastern Cape and is due to start at 09:00.
Once the funeral has concluded, various artists will pay tribute to Madiba on the Grand Parade, including Goldfish, Emo Adams and the Delft Youth Jazz Band.
Trenton and Free Radical will do the Madiba Jive and there will be performances by Drummer Mapumba Cilombo, the Cedric Samson Band, and the Freeflight Dancers.
Free public transport will be provided for the screening in the form of the MyCiTi bus services and Golden Arrow Bus Services from 07:00 – 17:00 into and out of town only.
In addition, Metrorail trains into town will be free from 07:00 to 09:00 (inbound only) and out of town from 12:00 to 17:00 (outbound only), in accordance with their normal schedule.

Note to editors
The City of Cape Town has set up a dedicated Media Centre for all accredited journalists at the City Hall on the Grand Parade in Darling Street. Members of the media are welcome to use this media centre as a base from which to work.
Media can obtain accreditation at the City Library/Drill Hall on Buitenkant Street near the City Hall, between 09:00 and 13:00 on Friday 13 December, if they have not done so already.
