Departmental Resource Centre will be officially launched

On 8 April 2005 the Resource Centre of the Department of Social Services and Poverty Alleviation will be launched. It is a momentous occasion for the Department. The Resource Centre was established when the need for an Information Management unit was highlighted during its restructuring process in 2003.

The launch is a vital point in the promotion and campaigning of the Resource Centre as the utilisation of resources will optimise access to information and improve service delivery. This in turn will allow the Department to mitigate lack of contribution to the strategic goals of the Department.

One of the highlights of the Resource Centre launch will be the unveiling of it's website on Cape Gateway. The web site is a promising new resource that will enable other Department's and the public to access information related to the Department's work.

The day's programme will include a keynote address on globalisation in the information management sector by Glen Arendse of UWC, live entertainment, as well as the announcement of the winning entry for the "Name the Resource Centre" competition, where a staff member will win a Game shopping voucher worth R500.

The day promises to be informative and entertaining!
