The Western Cape Government prides itself on finding innovative solutions to improving service delivery. In this spirit, the Western Cape Department of Social Development (DSD) in partnership with the Department of the Premier has found a solution that will not only ensure better service delivery to vulnerable citizens but will also improve the lives of social workers across the province – and potentially the country.
Premier Alan Winde and Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Jaco Londt, will officially launch the Social Work Integrated Management System (SWIMS) Application on 25 July 2024. They will be joined by various officials within the Western Cape Government, such as Provincial Finance Minister, Deidré Baartman, and National Parliament’s Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Social Development, Ms Bridget Masango.
The SWIMS App is set to be a game-changer as it is aimed at easing the immense administrative burden on social workers so they may focus more on therapeutic interventions for vulnerable citizens.
The launch will include a demonstration by social workers and their testimonies of using this mobile- and desktop-friendly app.
