Child Protection Week Church Service in Mitchells Plain

Today, Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, will continue commemorating national Child Protection Week by attending a memorial church service in Mitchells Plain.

The service was organized by specialist child protection NGO, Safeline, and the Christ the Mediator Church.

The service is in memory of the children who have been killed in the province, and will be attended by the families of children who were murdered, to honour the memory of their children.

Minister Fritz has mandated the Department to pilot support group infrastructure at a local office level, specifically for parents who have lost children through violence and murder. We must support those who have experienced the pain of losing a child, even beyond commemorative periods because, “Child Protection is Everyone’s Business”.
