Soccer kit donated by MEC Fritz to Khayelitsha soccer team

10 November 2016

Yesterday, the Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Adv. Albert Fritz, donated 20 soccer kits to a local Khayelitsha soccer team.

The soccer team, named Mighty United, received kit-bags comprising of soccer jerseys, shorts and socks amongst other items. The donation itself was courtesy of the business community, and from the MEC’s own pocket.

Minister Fritz was joined by Constituency Head and MEC for Health, Dr. Nomafrench Mbombo. Both MECs Fritz and Mbombo thanked the sponsors for their generosity.

In his short motivational message to the coach and players MEC Fritz said, “this kit will go some way to ensuring we keep our youth engaged in positive activities like sport”, and continued to say, “that keeping our youth engaged in positive and reaffirming activities like sport, keeps them away from social-ills like drugs, alcohol and gangs”.

As the Department of Social Development we will continue to encourage the business community to play an active role in supporting their communities and the youth of the province.
