Two Hundred Students to Attend Second Youth Entrepreneurship Conference

26 September 2013

Two hundred young people are set to attend the Western Cape Government’s second Youth Entrepreneurs Connect conference this weekend.

The student conference is hosted by the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism in partnership with the University of Cape Town’s entrepreneurial societies, Youth Entrepreneurs Connect and Invest Soc.

It will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Saturday, 28 September 2013.

Alan Winde, Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, will attend the event to address the young participants, which forms part of the Western Cape Government’s youth entrepreneurship drive.

Hosted under the theme “Innovating Youth Entrepreneurs”, students from tertiary institutions across the province will attend the one-day event.

“These aspiring entrepreneurs will discuss how to bring their ideas to life and identify opportunities to translate those concepts into viable business ventures. Small businesses are important job creators and it is important that we provide young entrepreneurs with support and access to networks. Conferences like these and our business incubators are vital in this regard,” said Minister Winde.
