Child Safety Campaign Phamplet Blitz at Schools and Railway Stations

Western Cape Minister for Community Safety Leonard Ramatlakane today led Departmental staff in a blitz distribution at rail stations throughout the Cape Peninsula.

As early as 06:00am on 18 October staff of the Department of Community Safety were seen at various train stations handing out pamphlets which are part of the Department's Child Safety Campaign.

A million pamphlets raising awareness on child safety, went out on the streets.

Minister Ramatlakane led from the front in handing out the pamphlets at the Cape Town train station.

Other Departmental staff were seen distributing at Bonteheuwel, Langa, Ysterplaat, Woodstock, Steenberg, Khayelitsha.

"Today we are launching this programme to our communities and we have decided to take almost all staff in my Department to hand out the pamphlets. We are doing to confirm our commitment to promote child safety." said Minister Ramatlakane.

He added "By handing out a million of these pamphlets, we want ensure that our message of awareness on child safety, reaches a million people. "

Minister Ramatlakane also distributed the pamphlets to pupils of the Soyisile and Sosebenza Primary schools in Khayelitsha.

He later visited Uitsig and addressed pupils at the CL Wilmot Primary school. Minister Ramatlakane also met Natasha Jaftha, the girl who went missing in Ravensmead.
